Why do people love Aegis Living Napa? “It’s about the feeling you get, inside and out.” We pride ourselves on the warm welcome everyone feels here. That starts with the beautiful Victorian architecture and continues when you enter the active main lobby. You might smell the scent of a fresh loaf of bread baking, hear the sounds of a music circle, and see residents and visitors gathering in the bistro. With just 48 apartments, we’re an intimate community that values close relationships. It’s easy to meet people in the numerous social spaces and continuous Life Enrichment programming, whether by the piano in the parlor or at a flower arranging class. Read in the library, host family in the private dining room, or harvest herbs in the outdoor garden with a former French Laundry chef.
When you live here, you’re in excellent care. Our nurses, med techs, and caregivers are tight knit—as you’ll hear many say, “we’re like family”—and some have worked here since we opened in 1999. We attend medical trainings and believe in continuous education to provide effective support for everyone. We’re guided by a North Star of your wellbeing.

What families are saying

Reviews of Brookdale Dr. Phillips are positive, portraying a warm, clean, home-like community with compassionate staff, leadership, and engaging activities. Families frequently praise the smaller size, surroundings, light, rooms, food, and residents’ cleanliness and appearance. Staff members are described as friendly, knowledgeable, respectful, attentive, and committed to preserving residents’ dignity and independence. Reviewers especially mention Tiffany, Marty, Nancy Barbee, and nursing staff for engagement, responsiveness, and communication. Families appreciate memory care, help during transitions from assisted living to memory care, and support for behaviors. Many say the community provided peace of mind and treated residents like family, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, when safety procedures and updates were considered excellent. Tours were praised for welcoming hosts, resident ambassadors, meals, and an atmosphere, although some visitors found the building dark or the sales approach overly persistent. Several positive reviewers did not move loved ones in, citing kitchenette availability, family circumstances, or cost; affordability and lack of Medicaid acceptance were concerns. A few Ivy Court reviews likewise describe attractive surroundings, activities, outings, sunlight, varied dining, and comfortable apartments, though these may concern another community. Reviews describe inconsistent information sharing, difficult cases staff could not manage as expected, and a gap between sales promises and delivered services. Complaints allege unpleasant odors, delayed or missed meals, residents calling for food, visitation restrictions, neglect during COVID-19, and poor responsiveness. One reviewer reported aggressive sales calls and messages. Overall, the reviews suggest a caring community with staff dedication, but prospective families should verify communication, care capabilities, visitation policies, pricing, and financial requirements before committing.

The management of the facility is poor and employee training is terrible. Aegis is going through their fifth Covid lockdown so we are unable to visit our family member. The food is unhealthy and not appropriate for seniors and the employees mostly sit around and watch the residents, rarely engaging with them or making sure that they are safe. Aegis is a beautiful facility but it is terribly expensive and the care is not commensurate with the cost.
