What families are saying
We’ve gathered and summarized real family reviews from across the internet for you. Contact a CareScout representative for details.
Reviews of Addington Place of Prairie Village are mixed, with many positive comments alongside serious concerns. Numerous residents’ families praise the attractive, clean, cozy building, spacious apartments, pleasant grounds, courtyards, and accessible one-story layout. Staff are frequently described as friendly, compassionate, knowledgeable, responsive, and professional. Positive reviewers highlight strong communication, engaging activities, good food, family events, comfortable memory-care neighborhoods, and attentive support during hospital discharges, emergencies, hospice, and end-of-life care. Several families say their loved ones are safe, socially active, and treated like family, while others appreciate on-site therapies, salon services, and flexible accommodations for pets or short-term stays. However, multiple reviewers report significant problems, particularly in memory care. Concerns include chronic understaffing, reliance on agency workers, frequent management and staff turnover, inadequate supervision, poor communication, ignored requests, delayed laundry and meals, cold or poor-quality food, insufficient help with eating, drinking, medications, and nighttime checks, and staff using phones instead of assisting residents. Some describe unsanitary conditions, including feces, dirty diapers, and overflowing toilets. One resident reportedly exited the building unnoticed, while another was left in a wheelchair overnight. Reviewers also allege falls, resident-on-resident incidents, neglected medical needs, missing equipment, inconsistent care plans, and unexpected billing. A few families needed to hire additional private caregivers. Staffing quality appears inconsistent: some employees are deeply caring, while others are perceived as inattentive or rude. Cost is also cited as a barrier, especially because Medicaid is not accepted. Overall, reviewers view Addington Place as attractive and potentially caring, but emphasize that staffing, oversight, communication, and consistency should be carefully evaluated before placement.

I recently moved my 97 year old mother into Merrill Gardens Willow Glen and I couldn't be more pleased with the entire experience. Everyone from the Community Relations Director to the Managing Director were so helpful, responsive, compassionate and professional throughout the entire process. Even with a lack of full staff at the time, everyone worked hard to fulfill our requests and take care of the residents. I highly recommend this facility for anyone looking for a safe and comfortable place for their loved one.
