What families are saying

We’ve gathered and summarized real family reviews from across the internet for you. Contact a CareScout representative for details.

The reviews for The Rose of Des Moines and its East location present a mixed picture. Some visitors and residents appreciate the facility's well-maintained environment, friendly staff, and variety of activities, including movie nights and cultural outings. The independent apartments are described as private and quiet, with good meals and responsive care. The facility offers amenities like a library, computer room, and exercise room, and accommodates dietary needs with fresh, healthy food options. However, several reviews highlight significant concerns. Some staff members are perceived as intrusive and judgmental, enforcing strict and privacy-invading rules. The administration is criticized for poor communication and inefficiency, with some reviewers describing them as untrustworthy and unprofessional. Complaints about outdated equipment, such as non-functional washers, are also noted. The facility's appearance and layout receive mixed feedback, with some areas described as shabby or oddly arranged. Safety and privacy issues are raised, with one reviewer questioning the effectiveness of background checks. The facility's handling of paperwork and financial transactions is criticized, with a strong recommendation to document all interactions. Despite these concerns, some residents and their families report positive experiences, noting that the facility is a comfortable place with caring staff and a supportive community. Overall, while some find it a suitable living environment, others caution potential residents to be vigilant and proactive in managing their care and interactions with the facility.

March 2022

The management/owners do not care about the individuals that reside here. They provide the bare minimum that the law allows and feel that they have control over what the residents do. Often the assertive or as they would call them "difficult" residents and those residents without family to advocate for them are treated very poorly even unkindly. When trying to advocate for a loved one who resides there you will be met with excuses and unfulfilled promises. They also own the healthcare agency that operates exclusively within their communities and will not allow outside agencies to provide services ensuring that they maximize the amount of money they receive from their resident's. When trying to advocate for a loved one who resides there you will be met with excuses and unfulfilled promises. I do not recommend this or any "Rose" communities.
