We took a tour with my mother-in-law, who was not really on board with wanting to move into assisted-living. We had toured one other place and had two other places scheduled for the next day. Ascension Via Christi at McLean literally had everything we were looking for. It had a wonderful head of clinical who spent great time with her talking to her about her needs. It had long-term care facilities available if that time comes. It had a perfect sized one bedroom apartment available. Some residents stopped and introduced themselves and told us a little bit about their experience. There was exactly what we needed to hear as one of them talked about her husband who had Parkinson’s and they cared for him for three years. My mother-in-law has Parkinson’s, so we wanted a place that was skilled in dealing with that. Another resident spontaneously talked about how she didn’t really want to go, but two years ago, it became a necessity and she has loved it ever since she moved in. Perfect fit!
