On the positive side, many reviewers praise the facility for its clean environment, professional and caring staff, and effective therapy services. The administration is often highlighted as being organized and responsive, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. Activities and social engagement are also appreciated, with some residents noting improvements in their health and well-being due to the care received. Conversely, several reviews express serious concerns about the quality of care, citing issues such as neglect, unprofessional behavior, and inadequate medical attention. The Resorts at Augsburg faces challenges despite its dedicated staff. Reduced hours have led to reliance on rotating agency nurses and aides. Retaining management, including unit managers and directors of nursing, remains an issue, affecting stability and continuity of care. Directly employed nurses and aides are hardworking and compassionate but often overwhelmed, impacting care quality. Dietary and housekeeping teams are helpful, though reduced housekeeping hours affect cleanliness. Upper management’s lack of responsiveness, broken promises, and minimal communication with families are concerning. Activities are limited, with inadequate supplies and infrequent engagement. Families should research thoroughly and scrutinize five-star reviews.

My mother lived in independent living for 6 years at Augsburg. When she died I was told I was responsible for the next 6 months rent. My lawyer refuted this and they backed off. My Mom died in 2020; it is now 2024 and I am still waiting for the refund of her entry deposit due under a Residency Agreement to Assign Refund of Entrance Deposit contract. Inquiries fall on deaf ears. It took 2 years to renovate the apartment so I am sure it wasn't shown to prospective tenants. My calls, letters (even lawyer's correspondence) is ignored by the new owners/management. Be very wary of this facility.

I agree 1000% with Michele H‘s review. I’ve had several family members at Augsburg over the years but this “new” version has lead to the end of a good run. I moved my loved one as well. Talk to family members, research other senior centers this company owns to get a feel for how they do business, take a tour and notice how much staff you see and what they are doing, visit at different times of the day. Do people look happy? Ask questions. I asked for the Business Director for the name of the VP, they didn’t know. As a matter of fact, they didn’t have answers for most of my questions. I guess it is understandable given the constant turnover.

Please do your research before you move a loved one here for memory care! Used to be a nice faith based non profit facility. Due to outstanding money debt, facility was bought out. Now it’s a for profit. We were told nothing would change, but everything has changed! Nothing like what we signed up for. Lack of communication and lack of empathy for residents (and more) caused us to move our loved one out.I personally would not recommend this facility.

John

The staff is very dedicated to the needs of the residents. The new management is working hard to increase engagement, while closely monitoring COVID protocols to keep residents safe.

My Mom has lived at Augsburg Village for 10 years. Pluses: It's a faith-based community. There is strong spiritual support and caring. Rehab facilities are top-notch, both in the rehab facility and at the independent-living village. Minuses: When my mom first moved there was a doctor's office staffed 3 days a week. Now it's only once a week. If you move here I strongly suggest you plan to use doctors outside the facility. The "pull-chord" system to call for help in an emergency is very unreliable, even if you opt for the "medic alert" necklace. Too many times, the system is either off-line or the nurses just don't respond. There is also a lack of oversight for the facility as a whole.
