"There are 52 apartments and only about 28 or less residents on site. About 15 people go to dinning room every day and food is not good. My mother lost 40 lbs over this last year due to food quality and bullying from another resident causing severe mental distress which was not prevented or addressed. There is very little social acitivites as well and the facility is in decline. New management this past year has revealed many cracks in this facility including a lack of safety.. Beware!! "This is a beautiful building with nice amenities. There are some wonderful people who always welcome visitors with a smile. That is where the positive experience at New Perspective Arden Hills ends. The month my dad spent living there was an absolute nightmare. He was forced into memory care and at the highest level of care despite it being totally inappropriate. "Memory care area lacks programming in the afternoon and evening. Residents are left to their own after dinner to wander around and basically watch TV. The afternoon programming is also sporadic. There are only two caregivers for 14 residents on each floor. These caregivers are often in the rooms of residents who need extra help toileting, dressing, or transferring, so the other 12 just wander around or watch tv. They also use a lot of agency caregivers who don’t know what they are doing.(unfortunately this is true in most facilities because of staffing problems) The facility is very nice, the food is good, and the staff is friendly and caring when they can be found. This is a good place for people who have memory issues who are passive and just go along. It is also a good place for people who have their faculties but have physical disabilities and need lots of help.
