Steven

July 2026

My family’s experience with Bowman Place Memory Care raised serious concerns about resident care, staff training, and professionalism. This review applies to Memory Care, not Assisted Living. We observed unprofessional interactions with residents, including yelling at vulnerable dementia patients, poor communication with families, and a lack of overnight monitoring and hygiene checks. On multiple occasions, residents were left in urine-soaked clothing long enough for it to dry. Families who advocate for their loved ones should be prepared for pushback from staff and management. I have documentation supporting the concerns in this review. Before choosing this facility, carefully evaluate staffing levels, dementia-care training, and regulatory compliance. Examples include inadequate overnight nursing coverage, improper resident handling, limited access to fluids, residents left in soiled clothing, and recurring concerns regarding UTI prevention and appropriate dementia redirection.

July 2026

If you are considering Bowman Place Memory Care, I encourage you to think twice. Our family experienced repeated failures in communication, inconsistent care, poor hygiene, inadequate hydration, and concerns with overnight monitoring. Important incidents were not consistently communicated to us, and we often discovered issues ourselves. The staff repeatedly demonstrated a lack of understanding of dementia care and effective dementia communication. Behaviors associated with dementia were often handled in ways that escalated situations rather than de-esscalated them. When concerns were raised, leadership was dismissive instead of working collaboratively to address them. Memory care requires specialized knowledge, compassion, and strong communication. Unfortunately, that was not our experience, and we cannot recommend Bowman Place Memory Care to other families.

200 Alliance Way, Manchester, NH, 03102
Assisted Living · Memory Care · Independent Living · Nursing Home · Continuing Care Retirement Community

The Vibrancy of Life. The Serenity of Nature. Our charitable roots began 125 years ago in 1875 with small group of 24 Manchester area women, who banded together to serve the needs of the greater community. They sought inclusivity – any woman could join the work of the Society for an annual fee of 50 cents. The Women’s Aid and Relief Society had a strong impact on the mill town of their day, and effected positive change in hundreds of lives. Their work evolved as the community did, remaining committed to housing and nursing needs, and transforming their buildings and services to match; from opening the area’s first hospital, to creating Pearl Manor. In order to provide multiple levels of care, in 1995 Pearl Manor moved from its original location to join Hillcrest Terrace on its new campus. In 2009, that entity became Manchester’s first Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), and changed their name to Birch Hill Terrace. The legacy of our work continues to evolve and grow to this day. Our latest evolution is as a proud affiliate of The RiverWoods Group. We are poised for the transformation – re-imaging our campus for a new generation of seniors – through our mission-driven staff, our focus on the creation of community and the peace of mind we give to whom we serve.…
