What families are saying

The reviews for LOOM and Legacy Oaks of Midlothian highlight a mix of positive experiences and areas for improvement. Residents and their families generally appreciate the friendly and accommodating staff, with many praising the activity directors for providing a wide range of engaging activities. The community atmosphere is often described as welcoming and home-like, with residents forming strong friendships. However, there are recurring concerns about the quality and variety of food, with some residents noting that the menu can become monotonous and that the quality has declined over time. The food point system at LOOM is also a point of contention, as it has not increased in line with rising costs. Maintenance issues, such as delayed repairs and cleanliness, are mentioned, particularly in the memory care units, where understaffing is a concern. Rent increases are a significant issue, with some residents noting substantial hikes over the years, leading to financial strain and forcing some to move out. Communication from staff to residents is another area needing improvement, with instances of poor information dissemination about events and services. Despite these challenges, many residents express satisfaction with their living arrangements, citing the supportive community and attentive staff as key positives. The facilities are generally well-maintained, and the location is convenient for accessing local amenities. Overall, while there are areas for improvement, particularly in food quality, maintenance, and communication, the communities are largely seen as caring and supportive environments for seniors.
