My sister who was mentally challenged actually was able to enjoy the freedom and independence she had never had . She lived with my parents, and their home provided the care, routine, and security for her. However after mom passed away my sister had to leave her home to live with my husband and me. With the changes in lifestyle and the activities of two very busy teenaged grandchildren , my sister was very unhappy living with us. So, she and I decided to try a move into an assisted living area which proved to the best decision . It provided the independence which she had never experienced. She still was able to choose family activities and trips she wanted to participate in and the freedom to choose her activities at Meadowview . She was truly happy and blossomed. The last year of her life was truly happy spending time with her new friends and being happy and busy. Everyone is so loving, kind, and caring. I would definitely suggest giving Meadowview a visit.
