What families are saying

We’ve gathered and summarized real family reviews from across the internet for you. Contact a CareScout representative for details.

The reviews for South Hill Village (SHV) present a mixed picture, highlighting both positive and negative experiences. On the positive side, many visitors and residents appreciate the warm and welcoming environment, friendly staff, and clean facilities. The Memory Care unit, in particular, receives praise for its compassionate care, with specific commendations for staff members like Jasmina and Dee Herta RN, who are noted for their dedication and empathy. Residents and their families also appreciate the variety of activities, responsive maintenance staff, and the overall pleasant atmosphere. However, there are significant criticisms as well. Some reviewers express dissatisfaction with management, citing a focus on financial gain over genuine care. Concerns about understaffing, high staff turnover, and inadequate medical care are common, with specific complaints about medication management and communication issues. The food service receives mixed reviews, with some residents enjoying the meals while others find them lacking in quality and variety. Housekeeping and maintenance services are also criticized for being inconsistent, particularly during staffing shortages. Overall, while SHV is praised for its caring staff and engaging environment, there are notable concerns about management practices, staffing levels, and communication, which potential residents and their families should consider. The experiences seem to vary significantly, suggesting that individual circumstances and expectations play a significant role in the perception of the facility.

South Hill Village management is horrible. All they care about is the money they can receive from their residents. Watch out for their non refundable fee they quote to just belong to their community. It is a scam. I have heard them quote anywhere from $3,000 to $8,000 while pretending to do you a favor saying, "that they will help you out by taking it off your monthly rent but don't tell anybody because your family will be the only family receiving this great deal". There is no genuine care shown towards the residents at all. They are extremely understaffed. There is no acting nurse. The is no acting director of the whole property. The food program is not eatable. The same menu just keeps revolving week after week after week. The place is dirty with no basic cleaning of the floors, laundry rooms and bathrooms. South Hill's corporate office has no clue how the property is even ran. Their best effort is to just send in bodies and platoon most positions. My dad was there many years and to
