What families are saying

We’ve gathered and summarized real family reviews from across the internet for you. Contact a CareScout representative for details.

Peter Becker Community is described as a nice and attractive place with a welcoming atmosphere. It features a church in the foyer used for celebrations and offers various activities, including art, concerts, and church services. Residents have access to YMCA services, and the staff is noted for being attentive and friendly. However, some reviews mention that the double rooms are small and not very appealing. The dining room is not particularly impressive, though the food is considered fine. The community is not a continuing care facility, operating more on an a la carte basis, which may not suit everyone. Some residents appear to be older, and while they seem happy, the age group may not be ideal for all. There are concerns about the level of care provided, with reports of neglect leading to serious health issues for some residents. The facility does not have a full-time doctor, which can delay medical attention. One review recounts a family member developing a urinary tract infection and suffering a fall under supervision, leading to hospitalization. Another review describes a resident's health deteriorating during a short stay for rehabilitation, resulting in a return to the hospital and eventual passing. While the facility is clean and well-maintained, it may not be suitable for those requiring more intensive care. Overall, Peter Becker Community offers a pleasant environment with various activities, but potential residents should consider the level of care needed.

History Calling All History Buffs. Did You Know: In 1945, 67 acres of historic William Penn land were given to Gwynedd Friends Meeting (Religious Society of Friends) by Charles O. Beaumont in honor of his late wife, May Foulke Beaumont. After many, many years of thoughtful discussions, and heated debates, concerning how best to use the bequest, the Quaker Committee at Gwynedd Friends came to an agreement; the land would be used to establish a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). A totally new concept on the East coast, a CCRC had recently opened its campus in California and exemplified a community made up of people, 65 and older, who had come together to experience new friendships, continued mental and physical enrichment and camaraderie. Best of all, health care, when it was needed, would be delivered in a caring and thoughtful environment to the members of the community. From inception to reality, Foulkeways opened its campus on November 10, 1967, making it the first CCRC in Pennsylvania and one of the first Quaker CCRCs in the country. “Setting standards of excellence since 1967, we continue to maintain a tradition of leadership in our industry.”…
