The Lafayette is a well-regarded independent senior living community praised for its welcoming atmosphere, spacious apartments, and friendly staff. Residents and visitors appreciate the clean, home-like environment, with many noting the beautiful grounds and ample outdoor spaces. The community offers a variety of amenities, including full kitchens, walk-in closets, and pet-friendly policies. Social activities, a residents' council, and a library contribute to a vibrant community life. While the staff is generally described as caring and attentive, some reviews mention management and staffing issues, particularly concerning meal services. The dining experience has been inconsistent, with some residents noting improvements under a new chef, while others express dissatisfaction with food quality and service. Plans to charge separately for meals have been met with resistance. The Lafayette's location is convenient, close to churches, grocery stores, and medical facilities. The community is undergoing renovations, which have been positively received, although some structural issues remain due to the building's age. Overall, The Lafayette is recommended for its affordability, family-like atmosphere, and attentive staff. However, potential residents should be aware of ongoing challenges with dining services and management. Despite these issues, many residents and their families express satisfaction with the community, highlighting the positive social environment and supportive staff.

November 2024
As of January 2, 2025, all residents will no longer have their meals included in their rent, but will have to pay for them in the current dining room with either cash or credit card. The dining room has been converted into a restaurant and bar. Only lunch and dinner will be served, and the menu will not change, unlike the current meals. Each entree, dessert, and drink will be charged a la carte. Price points given to the current residents range from $10 to $25 per person, per meal, depending upon what is ordered. This decision reflects on the parent company and not the staff, which are friendly and caring. It has caused many current residents, and their families, financial and mental distress, forcing them to scramble for solutions in the short notification time given. My family will be sad to leave due to the financial strain and limited nutritional value being offered to our elder generation.
