Not a place I would recommend. Former employee here and it's truly sad to see what the residents go through. The food being served is not what is advertised and there is a lot of favoritism going on. Very poor management.

The reviews for Bickford of St. Charles present a mixed picture. Many reviewers praise the facility for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and dedicated staff, highlighting the compassionate care and personalized attention residents receive. The community is described as homey, with a strong sense of community and various activities that foster engagement and friendships among residents. Some reviewers specifically commend staff members like Sharon, Anne, and Gretchen for their exceptional service. However, there are significant concerns raised about management and operational issues. Several reviewers mention low staff morale, high turnover, and inadequate leadership, particularly criticizing the Executive Director for a lack of clarity and experience. Issues with billing and refunds, especially after a resident's passing, have caused distress for some families. Concerns about understaffing, poor food quality, and insufficient activities are also noted, with some residents reportedly becoming depressed due to a lack of engagement and care. While some families have had positive experiences, others warn potential residents about the facility's shortcomings, particularly in terms of management responsiveness and the quality of care for those needing higher levels of assistance.
