"Ida is doing well-she has gained 9# in a month which is partially why she is in brookdale- she had lost 40# at home and needed to use wheelchair when entering- is now using rollerator again to move around facility and has had no more falls. I would give brookdale a B+ at this time. improvement could be made by supplying her cold water in her room to help counteract her chronic UTI problem. staff is friendly and treats ida well. The environment established by Barbara and her staff is always welcoming for residents and family alike. Opal has a very at-home feel, is very clean and tastefully appointed, and the staff’s care for your loved ones is genuine. "2025 Update: This place has gone downhill over the 4 years my parents have been there! My father fell on 8/30/2025 and had a significant skin tear on his left arm the wound Dr came and Brookdale lost the order for home health, wound getting worse. 2. My mother is unable to get into the bathroom 2. My mother is unable to get into the bathroom in her wheelchair because the bathroom is not handicapped accessible. They have lived there for 4 years and since the beginning my mother has been having to use the potty in the bedroom. My father has had to do this himself for all these years. I have asked for help for him to take care of my mother and no service care evaluation never gets scheduled. Even when we press the pendant that we need help with her to get her up on the potty etc, no one empties the potty into the toilet. He was not initially very excited to go, but I think the staff have done a great job of helping him get adjusted to his new life. They are incredibly professional but also very caring and personal, and treat him like one of their own family members.
