"The Springs at Lady Lake in Florida deserves a 5 Star Plus rating. I am the POA for my aunt who has been a resident there. Because I live in Ohio, I was not able to see her as often as I would have liked. Nevertheless, I took comfort in knowing that she was in a great facility that truly cared for her. The nurses, therapists, receptionists, cooks as well as the administrators have been helpful, loving and available 24/7. Some of the names of those that went above and beyond to care for my aging aunt with dementia are Debby, Debbie, Daphne, Joy and Valerie. And honestly there are others to whom I've spoken with, but I've forgotten their names. I know that no place is perfect, but I've never had a phone conversation where I felt as though they were not engaging in active listening and joining me in problem solving. "I absolutely love The Blake! My Mom moved into one of the smaller rooms - I think it is just under 400 sq feet so the hardest part about the move was just the downsizing. After that it's been smooth sailing. The staff are amazing and they're always checking in on my Mom. It was only like a week or so until we would walk the hallways and many of them already knew her by name. So far I am really impressed with this location - the management and staff have been incredibly friendly. "OMG is this facility beautiful! I just toured there and everything is so new and modern - they have these incredible courtyards and the room balconies look right into them. "I recently moved my father and mother-in-law to Discovery Village and I am so glad that we did. The staff is incredibly patient and helpful, the building is very clean, and their Covid protocols are still pretty active. My dad has dementia along with mobility issues, so it was important for us to find a facility that could meet all of their needs. On top of all this, the food was delicious! "I recently moved into a two bedroom apartment at Lake Moron Plaza. I used to live at another independent living community before this and this has been a huge upgrade as a lower cost. From the initial consultation to movineing in was a very seemless process. The administration staff are very prompt with any queries that you have throughout. "So many things wrong with this facility. Maybe all are the same but I hope not. My mom is meant to have night checks however, on 2 occasions, that we are aware of, when this did not happen, my mother fell and spent the rest of the night on the floor in her own urine. (she does not wear the emergency button when sleeping) The list is endless. But the food! They use Sisco/Costco type of frozen/reheated food, all the time. It is substandard and most times inedible. Soup is always hot but rarely is the food. TV, internet and phone (& elevators) are frequently inoperable for days/weeks at a time. I have no way to get in touch with my mother unless I leave work and drive to see her. At the moment I see her every evening. These people are only interested in a money grab. The residents are NOT priority. I know of others who have left this facility for other places. I will be moving my mother out of Discovery Village. Unfortunately, I must share our disappointing experience at Watercrest Senior Living, where my parents resided for over two years. What began as a promising solution became a frustrating ordeal, culminating in my father’s eviction—a decision I believe was mishandled at multiple levels. My father’s uncharacteristic outburst stemmed from frustrations and cognitive decline, but the Executive Director labeled him unmanageable and quickly evicted him without meaningful attempts to de-escalate or explore alternatives. Requests for documentation of prior concerns were ignored, showing a lack of transparency. "My mother has been a resident of Watercrest for 1 1/2 years. It's a beautiful facility with great hospitality. There are concerns that could take the rating down lower because she pays over $4K to stay here and she is not receiving that level of service. 1. The caregivers lose my mother's clothing items such as bras, and socks. 2. Towels and washcloths are missing and never folded neatly. 3. The caregivers continue to put the same outfit on my mom multiple times a week when she has plenty of clothes. 4. She has plenty of hangers for each pair of pants and shirts but 3 pairs of pants are hung up on 1 hanger. 5. Clothes can be found on the floor of the closet. 6. Clean laundry balled up in a chair or thrown over a chair instead of properly folded or hung up. 7. Sheets and mattress pads are balled up on the top shelf in the closet instead of properly folded. 8. The bed is poorly made up. 9. Bathroom and kitchen areas are not thoroughly cleaned. 10. The carpet only gets vacuumed when I vacuum it. 11. The carpet has been cleaned 3 or 4 times. It gets messy because she is in an electric wheelchair. 12. The caregivers have broken her desk when they move the power chair and keep bumping into her desk. 13. The room gets dusted when I dust. 14. There are always other resident's shirts, pants, and socks in my mother's laundry. 15. The trashbags are very cheap and flimsy. 16. Caregivers are not wearing face masks around the residents. 17. When my mother is not receiving occupational therapy, she does not get showers. She will go weeks/months without taking a shower. Instead, she gets wiped down in the bed. Resident's Complaint 18. The caregivers leave their dirty gloves behind, on the kitchen counter, or on the floor. 19. The caregivers sometimes can take an hour or more to answer calls not knowing if the call is a life or death situation. 20.
