"This place is horrible! The staff is underpaid, leading to low-quality employees who often spend their time on their phones instead of assisting the residents. The food is disgusting. On New Year's Eve, they served dried-out bratwurst with chips, and some residents couldn’t even keep their meals down. The cranberry juice is watered down, and there’s no housekeeping—nothing is cleaned, and residents' sheets and clothes aren’t washed. Without informing me, they moved my mom to memory care. They don’t even shower the residents or cut their toenails. Activities are scarce—only the occasional bingo because they can’t retain staff due to the poor management of the parent company. I had to contact the parent company multiple times just to get my mom’s medical records, and nobody ever returned my calls. When I emailed Stormie for help, she took 55 days to respond after numerous follow-up emails. This is beyond unacceptable, and I wouldn’t recommend this facility to anyone." - Ann… Read more

"My mom had lived in Marvella’s Memory Care for 15 mo when they forced her to leave because she needed a wheelchair. While moving my mom's belongings out of her room, I discovered an enormous rodent infestation. There was solid sheet of droppings under the cushions of her couch. Much of the interior fabric was eaten away. There were droppings inside my mom's bed frame and along her headboard. The infestation created a serious health risk to my mom as well as other residents. Hantavirus is contracted by breathing air contaminated with rodent feces. It can be fatal. After my mom left, Marvella informed me they kept her damage deposit because there was damage to her carpet. There was a blood stain where my mom fell and hit her head. Marvella’s policy must be that Memory Care residents are required to clean up their own biohazardous fluids. When I realized the staff was never going to clean it up, I scrubbed it, but it did leave a stain, so my mom was penalized. Shame on you, Marvella." - Susan… Read more

"Memory care area lacks programming in the afternoon and evening. Residents are left to their own after dinner to wander around and basically watch TV. The afternoon programming is also sporadic. There are only two caregivers for 14 residents on each floor. These caregivers are often in the rooms of residents who need extra help toileting, dressing, or transferring, so the other 12 just wander around or watch tv. They also use a lot of agency caregivers who don’t know what they are doing.(unfortunately this is true in most facilities because of staffing problems) The facility is very nice, the food is good, and the staff is friendly and caring when they can be found. This is a good place for people who have memory issues who are passive and just go along. It is also a good place for people who have their faculties but have physical disabilities and need lots of help.
