"I recently ended 2 1/2 years at Dominican Village. This pertains only to the Independent area. Residents are skewed towards women in their 80s and late 70s. I've no family, so a major reason that I chose there was because Dominican sisters owned and ran it. Dominican Village had a reputation of leniency when residents could pay no more. Some stayed and others carefully relocated. Sadly, a year ago the sisters sold to a private organization with a harsh CEO. When I had to leave, relocation help found one choice. Take it on Tuesday or be out on Wednesday. It did not suit me, but I had no choice. My furniture and many items I owned were all abandoned in a rushed move out. Apart from that, the Village is a peaceful place. Many activities, led by bingo, and several senior exercise classes. For Catholics, there is mass and rosary and more. I was surprised by the high quality of the food when I arrived, but 6 months ago they switched to an inferior service. For this I deduct a star." - William… Read more

"If I could give ZERO stars I would. This place was better when it was Village Green. This is not a "woman scorned" review as my mother still resides at Atria due to unfortunate circumstances. The head nurse sets a truly negative tone for the company as she has no bedside manner and thinks she's more important than she actually is. The woman refuses to share medical records even when our family involved the state. The place is short staffed and the memory care unit is basically a "locked facility!" "I would not send my worst enemy to live here. The place may be pretty and it is marketed well but when you come for a tour keep in mind they are trying to get their hands on your money. I have been actually living here for 2 years come September. The food is terrible because the budget is slim. We are fed one grade above prison food. If you speak to other residents one-on-one almost every single person says they dont like it here. They are constantly running out of towels for giving residents showers and if you bring your own you run the risk of losing them in the laundry, which many people have complained about. The entire staff is afraid of the Director so there is no one to stand up for the residents. The pt/ot room can only be used with a prescription and when you are accompanied by your pt/ot. It is not a gym. There are no nurses here at night or on the weekend. Most of the the residents get sent to Bon Secours Hospital, a one-star facility.
