What families are saying

We’ve gathered and summarized real family reviews from across the internet for you. Contact a CareScout representative for details.

Heatherwood Retirement Community receives mixed reviews from residents and their families. Many praise the facility for its caring and attentive staff, who are described as compassionate and dedicated to creating a warm, family-like atmosphere. Residents appreciate the variety of activities and the sense of community, with some noting that their loved ones have become happier and more social since moving in. The rural setting and spacious apartments are also highlighted as positive aspects. However, there are significant concerns about the facility's maintenance and management. Several reviews mention ongoing issues with broken elevators, which have left residents unable to leave their apartments safely. There is also criticism of the frequent turnover in staff, including chefs and directors, which some feel impacts the quality of care and dining services. Complaints about the food quality and limited menu options are common, with some residents expressing dissatisfaction with how dietary needs are handled. The facility's affordability is noted as a benefit, but some feel that the lower price point comes with trade-offs in service quality and resources. Communication between management and families is another area of concern, with reports of unreturned calls and emails. Despite these issues, many residents and their families remain satisfied with Heatherwood, valuing the supportive environment and the efforts of individual staff members. Overall, while Heatherwood offers a welcoming community for many, potential residents should weigh the positive aspects against the reported challenges in maintenance and management.

I have had a pretty great experience with Heatherwood. From my own personal experience of having my grandfather move in to working there for many years as a med tech and concierge, I can confidently say that it is an amazing place. The staff are very friendly helpful and caring and the residents are wonderful. The community is beautiful with a great view outside. The apartments are large and the food is delicious. There are also plenty of activities to keep everyone engaged.
