CareScout Community Score

Based on CareScout’s proprietary scoring.

The CareScout Community Score is calculated using our proprietary rating system, created to help families make well-informed choices about senior living options. This score is determined using a comprehensive set of criteria, including sentiment analysis of online ratings and reviews, user-submitted feedback on CareScout.com, completeness of the community profile, input from employees and local advisors, a community's contracted status with CareScout, and the frequency of visits to the community's website and location. Communities can earn a maximum score of 10.

indicates a community has a contract with CareScout, meaning we receive a fee from the community or an advisor, after a family has moved in. Contracted communities receive additional points toward their Community Score; however, it's possible for a community to earn a score of 10 even if they are not contracted with CareScout.

Atria Lafayette Hill (ALH) receives predominantly positive feedback for its well-maintained, modern facilities and attentive, friendly staff. Many reviewers highlight the welcoming environment, with staff members like Connie, Lionel, and Lauren frequently praised for their dedication and care. Residents and their families appreciate the variety of activities, appealing menus, and the ability to age in place without needing to move apartments as care needs change. The community is described as clean, with a pleasant atmosphere and engaging activities, contributing to a sense of home and belonging. However, some reviews point out areas for improvement. Concerns include high annual rate increases, understaffing, and inconsistent communication with management. The food quality receives mixed reviews, with some describing it as phenomenal, while others criticize it as weak and overcooked. Memory care services are noted as needing enhancement, with some residents reportedly spending excessive time in wheelchairs or watching TV. Despite these criticisms, many families express satisfaction with the care provided, noting that staff often go above and beyond to make residents feel comfortable and supported. The facility's ability to adapt to individual needs and the strong sense of community are frequently mentioned as significant positives. Overall, while there are areas for improvement, Atria Lafayette Hill is generally well-regarded for its compassionate staff and supportive environment.

The Quadrangle, which is located on 74 wooded acres, just nine miles from Philadelphia’s City Hall, was founded by a group of Haverford College professors who were looking for a new approach to retirement homes. By creating a place where older adults could live securely, share their interests, and enjoy one another’s company, they felt they had created a new kind of community that had the feel of a college campus, with an emphasis on creativity and continued learning. When you enter our lovely community, the first thing you will notice is the beautiful art that lines the walls throughout the hallways. Many of this is resident-created art, and you will sense immediately that there is a focus on fine arts, pottery, and sculpting (much of this work is created in our popular art studio). Our residents are highly involved in the curation of our committees and programming and have even adopted "the life of the mind" as our community's motto, as so much at The Quadrangle revolves around providing enriching, fulfilling experiences. And, to ensure the community is consistently meeting residents' needs, we are proud to boast an active and involved Resident's Association with a ten member council and four officers who meet with the resident body monthly to consider community needs and concerns—allowing ample opportunity for involvement in the life and governance of The Quadrangle. The library, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, is at the heart of our building, and we are proud to offer more than 10,000 volumes. Our resident committee purchases 30-50 new books each month and we offer two bookcases of work written by our resident authors. We offer an excellent dining program, and our in-house chef offers a fully inclusive meal program. Our property features a 6-hole executive golf course and putting green, bocce, tennis courts, croquet, community garden plots, and a greenhouse. The Quadrangle is truly like no other senior living community, and we would be honored to welcome you and your family for a tour of our buildings and our grounds. You will notice immediately that our residents are friendly and approachable, and—if you wish—you will have the opportunity to meet many of the people who make our community so vibrant and talk to them about life at The Quadrangle.
