"I cared for my Mother, who had Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia, for a few years until it got to be more than I could handle. At the time we found The Haven, Mom was already termed as a hospice patient. The atmosphere and care there was so wonderful that Mom actually got better and was taken off of hospice for 6 months! Our visits were purely joyful during that time. Previously she had never wanted to go into a "home" and be around other elderly folks, but she found that she loved it. She made friends and loved being able to sit out on the front porch with them in good weather in a rocking chair. There is a wonderful yard full of birds, squirrels and a huge tree. There's also a garden next door and they often share fresh vegetables with the residents.
