I was judicial in researching amenities and value based on her needs with vision impairment and dementia. Everyone is very kind - patient focused - and compassionate. Her meals are generous - her room and person are kept clean and medications are delivered on time/frequency. I’ve made a point to know most the staff and scrutinize everything snd everybody. "Lovely facility outwardly. The food pictured on the website is nothing like what is served. Over cooked veggies, over salted soups, unappetizing, small portions. Great if you like cold French fries every day. Also, they do not adhere to the care plans because they are understaffed. Money is the first priority here, not people. "Ask to review the results of the most recent survey or inspection of the facility conducted by federal or state surveyors or inspectors and plans of correction in effect with respect to the facility. Multiple errors have caused extreme inconveniences, mental anguish and emotional distress to my family. These serious errors have yet to be explained by administrators, and they continue withhold information. If you expect nursing to assess the resident, accurately document, and/or contact the doctor; lower your expectations. If you tour, it appears really nice. Look up, not down and you might notice that attention to detail that's missing. Those little details add up. Leadership at highgate is lacking in healthcare experience, and runs this as a business. Profits over people. Bonuses over patient dignity. High turnover of staff and residents speaks for its self. "This brand new facility is clean and very appealing outdoors and indoors but that is where it stops. This facility has growing pain issues. The staff that started out are all gone. I see new faces daily and not so much of the old staff. High turnover. The food is terrible and the dining room is short staff always and replaced often. You maybe get your order in within a ½hr if your lucky and another ½hr to have it served to you. They don't keep the salad bar and soup freshened up. The food in memorycare is served cold most of the time and staff there have a kitchen but don't use it to warm the food. Activites for the memory care is next to nothing. The new and beaurltful salon is not in use and they don't plan to hire anyone to do hair or pedicures even though there is a chair in the salon. Their accounts receivable system sucks. They don't get around to depositing your payment by check until after late fee deadline and charge $150. I really had hopes for this place but not organized." - Anonymous… Read more
