Bayberry At Emerald Court

From $5,740/mo

2000 Emerald Court, Tewksbury, MA, 01876
Assisted Living, Memory Care, Independent Living

"I echo the above descriptions regarding the memory care unit. Inadequate staffing levels, environment, and senior management communication extremely poor. When my LO first entered memory care, he was very independent and therefore ignored. As his disease progressed, the facility did not communicate with the family to work on strategies. He was ignored. When brought to their attention, the rates would increase, citing more care required additional time to complete tasks. There was no additional care. This facility does not possess the expertise for advanced memory needs. A money grab. Take the time to research stand alone memory care facilities. They truly care about residents and staff." - Lori…

Renovated this year, unlike others that tell you "oh, we are going to renovate". They have great trips like going to York Beach Maine and eating there at a restaurant! Easy to walk around. Stores near by all with in walking distance plaza, wine and liquor store, CVS, many restaurants for change of pace! They don't nickel and dime you like some others. No pet fee, no room transfer fee, family can visit and eat there no extra charge! Wonderful! My mom is very excited! Ask for a tour! Seeing is believing!" - Gunther…

Kennedy Meadows Gracious Retirement Living

From $2,975/mo

44 Nashua Road, North Billerica, MA, 01862
Independent Living

"I am a resident of Kennedy Meadows in North Billerica, MA. These are my observations: Although meals are advertised as home made from scratch with fresh ingredients, that is not the case. Canned vegetables and fruits. mashed potatoes from dried potato, plain white bread for sandwiches, and pre-prepared items are the norm. Food is most often cool when served; residents comment when meals are warm. Housekeeping is less than adequate; weekly "cleanings" consist of little more than a swipe here and there. Floors aren't mopped, upholstered furniture isn't vacuumed, all the ways one would expect an apartment to be kept properly are missing. Staff shortages lead to long wait times at table for meals and substandard housekeeping. Transportation, an advertised amenity, is available at limited times and only to those who can climb into a van - no wheelchair lift. Residents are not welcome to make suggestions for improvement. As a example, there is no AED (defibrillation device) on site. When residents requested that medical device be made available, we were told it isn't required by law and Hawthorn has decided not to provide one. Towels, bed linens, and toilet paper are substandard - rough. On a positive note, surroundings are very nicely decorated, halls and doorways are wide, outside walkways are pleasant, and residents are friendly. I would not recommend." - Betty…

A trusted senior living community for 135 years, the not-for-profit Cambridge Homes features 44 independent and assisted living apartments and offers residents a wide variety of cultural, educational, wellness and social programs. The Cambridge Homes is located in an historic Georgian-style building on Mount Auburn Street just a mile from Harvard Square and adjacent to Mount Auburn Hospital. Antiques and fine art can be found throughout the residence. This gracious community is a good choice for individuals who wish to enjoy the many benefits of city living but who also desire security, personalized services and companionship. The residents of The Cambridge Homes enjoy its relaxed ambiance, stimulating programs and top quality services. They lead independent lives yet enjoy the advantages of living in a caring community where everyone’s voice is heard. The Cambridge Homes has a rich tradition of service to local seniors. The not-for-profit organization was established in 1887 by a group of Cambridge citizens (including Alice Longfellow, the poet’s daughter) to create a residence for elderly men and women. The first “Home” was quickly outgrown and in 1898 our current building was built. It was opened the following year in a ceremony presided over by Charles William Eliot, president of Harvard University. As time passed an infirmary was added, and in 1997 we reopened as an assisted living residence following a complete renovation which modernized our building while preserving its historic charm and original architectural details. Today, we continue to uphold the spirit of The Cambridge Homes’ founding through an active 9-member Board of Directors and 50 Incorporators who are committed to providing a gracious home and top quality services to local seniors. In a continuation of the community’s original charitable purpose, The Cambridge Homes also maintains an endowment fund that is available to residents who need some financial assistance. The Active Friends’ Committee hosts programs including play-reading, monthly teas, and wine and cheese socials which create opportunities for residents to stay connected to the larger Cambridge community.…

I like the location - its just so easy getting on and off of the highway. I also appreciate the size of their apartments. The closets are great. The garage parking is appealing. "I started looking for senior living places and decided to look at the Residence at Bedford (MA) for Independent living. Although it's not yet fully built, my experience so far has been nothing less than spectacular. The executive director is very pleasant and listens carefully to everything you say. The sales manager is also very caring and listens to everything that you have to offer. She went above and beyond to accommodate all my requests and the experience I had with them was far superior to any that I had at other facilities. They answered all my questions and I never felt rushed out the door like at other places I visited. As far as the building, it is in a lovely setting overlooking the Minuteman trail with plenty of parking. It looks like a very large home, instead of anything industrial. I would encourage anyone who is looking for a wonderful place to stay to consider taking some time to explore the Residence at Bedford. I look forward to it being my forever home." - Lorraine…
