The Residence At Five Corners

From $5,890/mo

678 Depot Street, Easton, MA, 02356
Assisted Living, Memory Care, Independent Living

"Our family member is happy and safe at The Residence at Five Corners. There are many positives about the wonderful staff, caring community, kind friends, great team of nurses, OTs, PTs, and Speech Therapists! A few of her complaints are about the food quality/meals, which went downhill when they lost two wonderful chefs and those positions have not yet been filled as of Nov. 2024. When she first moved there, the food was great! Communication is an area that needs improvement. This is another reason why I cannot give it a five star. The residents look out for each other and care about each other, which I truly appreciate. It is a warm and welcoming environment. It’s an expensive place, but worth the great care and trust for your loved ones. Before locking in to any place for your loved one, take a tour, talk to residents, ask staff questions, and be open about your concerns. If you are not comfortable with the answers, move on to a place that best fits your loved ones needs!" - Marcy…

The Cambridge Homes

From $6,050/mo

360 Mount Auburn Street, Cambridge, MA, 02138
Assisted Living, Independent Living

A trusted senior living community for 135 years, the not-for-profit Cambridge Homes features 44 independent and assisted living apartments and offers residents a wide variety of cultural, educational, wellness and social programs. The Cambridge Homes is located in an historic Georgian-style building on Mount Auburn Street just a mile from Harvard Square and adjacent to Mount Auburn Hospital. The exterior facade and interior original architectural details, such as fireplaces and detailed wood paneling, have been preserved or replicated to maintain the historic character of the century-old building. Antiques and fine art can be found throughout the residence. This gracious community is a good choice for individuals who wish to enjoy the many benefits of city living but who also desire security, personalized services and companionship. The residents of The Cambridge Homes enjoy its relaxed ambiance, stimulating programs and top quality services. They lead independent lives yet enjoy the advantages of living in a caring community where everyone’s voice is heard. The Cambridge Homes has a rich tradition of service to local seniors. The not-for-profit organization was established in 1887 by a group of Cambridge citizens (including Alice Longfellow, the poet’s daughter) to create a residence for elderly men and women. The first “Home” was quickly outgrown and in 1898 our current building was built. It was opened the following year in a ceremony presided over by Charles William Eliot, president of Harvard University. As time passed an infirmary was added, and in 1997 we reopened as an assisted living residence following a complete renovation which modernized our building while preserving its historic charm and original architectural details. Today, we continue to uphold the spirit of The Cambridge Homes’ founding through an active 9-member Board of Directors and 50 Incorporators who are committed to providing a gracious home and top quality services to local seniors. In a continuation of the community’s original charitable purpose, The Cambridge Homes also maintains an endowment fund that is available to residents who need some financial assistance. The Active Friends’ Committee hosts programs including play-reading, monthly teas, and wine and cheese socials which create opportunities for residents to stay connected to the larger Cambridge community.…

Magnolia Heights Gracious Retirement Living

From $3,615/mo

485 East Central Street, Franklin, MA, 02038
Independent Living

"I have spent a few years looking for a place where my 85-year-old mother will feel comfortable. She's kind of picky about her environment and has moved in and out of a couple of places. She's finally found what she was looking for at Magnolia Heights in Franklin, MA. The layout of the building is great; residents don't have to walk too far to get to the central community areas. Most apartments have balconies. There's plenty of light all around; it doesn't feel stuffy at all. I've shared a few lunches at their dining area and I noticed a good sense of community. The activities director is a fun person to be around and her enthusiasm for her job is contagious. There are plenty of events and activities for the residents to participate in. I especially appreciate that the sales manager actually listens to her residents and projects a warmth that seems so lacking in other professional retirement communities. She's always available to help new residents get used to their surroundings during the difficult transition of moving in. Some retirement communities feel like they're just a place to live. Magnolia Heights feels like a place where my mother can be at home." - Eric…

Kennedy Meadows Gracious Retirement Living

From $2,975/mo

44 Nashua Road, North Billerica, MA, 01862
Independent Living

"I am a resident of Kennedy Meadows in North Billerica, MA. These are my observations: Although meals are advertised as home made from scratch with fresh ingredients, that is not the case. Canned vegetables and fruits. mashed potatoes from dried potato, plain white bread for sandwiches, and pre-prepared items are the norm. Food is most often cool when served; residents comment when meals are warm. Housekeeping is less than adequate; weekly "cleanings" consist of little more than a swipe here and there. Floors aren't mopped, upholstered furniture isn't vacuumed, all the ways one would expect an apartment to be kept properly are missing. Staff shortages lead to long wait times at table for meals and substandard housekeeping. Transportation, an advertised amenity, is available at limited times and only to those who can climb into a van - no wheelchair lift. Residents are not welcome to make suggestions for improvement. As a example, there is no AED (defibrillation device) on site. When residents requested that medical device be made available, we were told it isn't required by law and Hawthorn has decided not to provide one. Towels, bed linens, and toilet paper are substandard - rough. On a positive note, surroundings are very nicely decorated, halls and doorways are wide, outside walkways are pleasant, and residents are friendly. I would not recommend." - Betty…

"Nice building, but pricing is outrageous. I originally had a love one move into Memory Care in May 2023 at a contracted monthly unit rate of $9,300/month. But then, every 6 months, the price increased based on their “service care levels” which are NOT included in monthly unit rate. By April 2023, the cost had increased to $16,100/month! That’s over $193k per year!! Anyone thinking of moving a loved one into their Memory Care units needs to be aware of these “service care level” costs that they’ll start charging." - Jeff…
