"Do NOT bring your loved one to Brookdale Southfield. Although the facility looks nice the administrative staff are awful. Cold, heartless and unorganized. The staff don't return calls, texts or emails. They illegal withdrew funds from my deceased father's checking account when notification had been given 30 days in advance. No one was able to explain this to me? There were plenty of times when communication was not handled properly. The staff is awful to say the least." - Tara…

"Unfortunately our experience at Storypoint Abbott has been quite disappointing. While the facility appeared nice, we encountered problems with management and directors of the facility. We got lots of promises and we can do that and we have that and none of it happened, no one is on the same page even when they are in the same room they can’t agree. . Staff is unprofessional. The rates they charge are ridiculous for what they offer. When asked to lower the price they say they can charge that much because they have a waiting list. When compared to other facilities (even owned by the same company) they charge 2-3 thousand dollars more per month. Prospective families should be aware and ask specific questions and get it documented. The reality did not live up to the promises that were made. Just not worth the pain and heartache. I would look elsewhere" - Janie…

"My parents moved here a couple of years ago and since this company took over, its gone way down hill. The staff was given more and more responsibilities, which has caused a high turnover, and the food has also gone down hill. The chef said he can only do so much with the budget they give him, which obviously isn't much. They used to let visiting family eat for free and they are now charging. The place is not staffed 24 hours a day, and there is no one there other than a couple of cooks on the weekends when they give out boxed meals. Very disappointed in the new company. We are considering moving them." - Cindy…

"We loved Oakmont until they brought in Ace Homecare. Worst Homecare, if your loved one needs additional care to live at Oakmont you will want to re-evaluate. Once the director retired, things started to change, they have had trouble keeping an activities director. And some of the onsite activities they have required you to RSVP. (these are seniors) sadly they would not allow them to attend because they forgot to turn in their RSVP. I watched as they would not allow residents to enter the dining room at dinner for hot dogs for a so-called American day because they forgot. I found this very sad, that you would not want to include everyone. Working in a senior facility I would think you would want to promote all to attend and not to alienated anyone. They have a beautiful back patio that they make it very difficult for residents to use during the beautiful summer months. It's a beautiful facility, if they improve the care company and some other things, it would be amazing." - christe…

"My appt. touring the building was amazing, the rooms shown were newly remodeled. I was conveniently made aware of the pendant 5 minute call time response. Staff turned up in their uniforms and put their best attitudes and smiles on. Papers were signed and then the room that was shown to us was suddenly gone, given to someone else. My parents were forced (nothing available) to live in a ‘bedroom’ that barely fit two twin size beds…I should have left right away. Then, After seeing my dad’s continued decline (4months later) I find out that my dad’s main medication was never given to him (I checked his med drawer and was told if it’s not there then it never was there) my dad was now dependent on his walker. I had asked repeatedly if he was receiving it (3X a day) and they said yes he was. He was not. I took my mom to the hospital myself because she was so extremely swollen, (it was congestive heart failure) they said ‘most everyone here has edema’ Please read reviews & check credentials" - Teresa…
