"Mom and Dad have made their home at the Athenian Village for the past two years. When my sister and I began looking for Assisted Living facilities, we anticipated a long search. The Athenian was the second place we visited, and we quickly realized our search was over. It doesn't have that "hospital" or "institution" vibe at all. Rather, the dining room feels more like a family restaurant. The food is excellent, with a daily menu. My Mom, who is a very picky eater loves the fact that there is always an alternate menu selection. She really loves ice cream, too! Their little apartment is amazing, complete with a small kitchenette. Athenian Village is clean and well maintained. The best part is the team, led by owner Ed Gates is professional, friendly and treats their residents like family. We have been caught up in the bureaucracy of filing for Medicaid for Mom and Veteran's Assistance for Dad for almost two years now. Mr. Gates has been patient, kind and informative as we are navigating these difficult roads. His leadership team includes Rita, Director of Nursing and Administrative Assistant Kathleen. Both of these ladies are outstanding and we look forward to seeing them each time we visit. "We could not be more happy with Vitalia Strongsville. Before moving my in-laws to Vitalia they were at another assisted living in the area which did not compare to the care they have received at Vitalia Strongsville. The employees make it a point to make meaningful connections with the residents and you do not find that everywhere. My father in law was in memory care before he passed and he received great care. The nursing staff was great and always kept us in the loop. When his condition worsened they had their hospice team, Cypress right there to assist our family with end of life care. Vitalia plans fun, family friendly events through out the year for residents and their families. From trick or treating to Easter egg hunts and a Christmas tree lighting with a wonderful dinner and a market with local small businesses so residents can shop without leaving home. "My mother moved into Emerald Village in December of 2017. This is a wonderful place. The building and grounds are lovely and kept spotless, the apartments are very nice, the food is excellent and the staff is the best! My siblings and I have been more than impressed with the nurses and aides. My mother was not easy to deal with at first, as she was reeling from all the changes in her life (at age 94) and took it out on the staff. They responded with professionalism, understanding and compassion. These ladies were so patient and kind! Before long, my mom adjusted, and she now loves it and feels lucky to be there. My siblings and I feel very fortunate that our mom is at Emerald Village. We have peace of mind, knowing she is safe and well cared for and treated with kindness and respect.
