"My loved one has been living in Summerfield for a few months. Apparently the change in ownership has resulted in a director who has no concern for the well-being of residents. The most consistent complaints are about the food and chef. Most seriously, the kitchen adds ingredients, like sugar in vegetables!, without informing residents, who have special dietary needs and have to know what they're eating. Surely there are laws in assisted living facilities about following residents' nutritional requirements and informing them of ingredients. Evidently nearly all foods are spicy. Also overcooked and barely edible. The chef literally walked out of the room when residents tried to comment on the problems, and the director makes empty promises. The food is not the only problem and my loved one, who is generally not fussy, is planning to leave. "The care my father received at ARTIS Senior Care Living was appalling. The staff lacked basic knowledge and neglected his needs. Despite his early-onset dementia, they labeled him "uncooperative" and suggested sedation. Even basic tasks like bathing were mishandled, with staff calling my mother for help. We lost our deposit due to their incompetence. What's worse, they didn't even bother to check on my father after we left, despite calling us "family".
