What families are saying
We’ve gathered and summarized real family reviews from across the internet for you. Contact a CareScout representative for details.
Reviews of Harvest of Roanoke are mixed, with many families praising the community’s attractive, clean, and modern environment. Positive comments frequently mention friendly, compassionate staff, engaging activities, good food, attractive rooms, outdoor spaces, security, and a welcoming atmosphere. Several families say their loved ones received excellent care, settled in smoothly, and appeared happy and engaged. Management and individual staff members are often described as responsive, knowledgeable, and dedicated, with some reviewers highlighting strong communication and support during COVID-19. Many visitors recommend the facility for assisted living or memory care and appreciate its convenient location and home-like feel. However, several reviews raise significant concerns. Staffing shortages, inconsistent management, inadequate training, and poor follow-through are recurring complaints. Some reviewers report neglected personal care, unchanged briefs, full catheter bags, residents being yelled at, and insufficient responses to behavioral or safety concerns. One former employee alleges serious neglect and abuse, though this claim is unverified. Other concerns include dirty resident-room floors, unclear or changing policies, delayed refunds, limited transportation availability, inadequate move-in communication, and insufficient on-site medical or respite services. A particularly troubling account describes a memory-care vacancy being offered, withdrawn shortly afterward, and replaced with a suggestion that the resident temporarily remain in assisted living with private supervision. Another reviewer criticizes prolonged COVID-related isolation of healthy residents and its potential effects on physical and mental health. Overall, reviewers commonly find Harvest beautiful and caring, but experiences vary considerably. Prospective families should tour carefully, ask detailed questions about staffing, training, care protocols, vacancy confirmation, communication, transportation, isolation policies, and refund procedures, and verify any serious allegations independently.

We started looking at Belmont Village because it offered a variety of levels of care, since my Mom is working through memory issues and my Dad is not. Belmont Village was the best solution we found - they stay in separate wings but my Dad can visit my Mom whenever he wants. It's a really beautiful facility and you almost feel like you are at a hotel. They offer lots of activities and have a calendar that changes every week. Most importantly, the caregiving staff and administrators are so wonderful! I can rest so much easier knowing that my parents are being looked after by people who really care about them. I also really appreciate that there is a nurse on site at all times. Belmont Village truly has been such a wonderful choice for the whole family.
