Harborchase of Dr. Phillips

From $5,300/mo

7233 Della Drive, Orlando, FL, 32819
Assisted Living, Memory Care, Independent Living

"My parents lived at HarborChase of Dr. Phillips Assisted Living for 41 days (August 15–September 25, 2025). During that time, there were three different Executive Directors (DJ, Tammy, and Heather). The Head of Maintenance (Luis) also left during that period. After I filed a complaint regarding care concerns, the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) conducted an investigation and issued a 48-page Statement of Deficiencies. The findings included failures related to physician order follow-through and medication-related documentation. These records are publicly available through the state. When I moved my parents out, I confirmed the account reflected a zero balance. Our sales representative had indicated we would receive one free month. After move-out, corporate leadership — Katherine (Regional Director of Operations) and Mark (Chief Operating Officer) — provided written assurances regarding credits and refunds. They billed $39,000 for 41 days." - Nancy…

Grand Living at Lakewood Ranch

From $4,900/mo

7230 University Parkway, Sarasota, FL, 34240
Assisted Living, Memory Care, Independent Living

"Grand Living Sarasota (GL) is a senior residence in east Sarasota County with attractive first-floor public spaces and poorly designed, cheaply constructed resident apartments. Based on my more than 2.5 years of living at GL, I would not recommend this facility. I have four main reasons for my negative review: 1) I feel my health was jeopardized at GL. 2) Food at GL is mediocre, which should not be, since 3) GL’s rent fees are higher than most other leased senior residences in the Sarasota area. 4) My standard of living at GL was diminished. Living there felt like a “step down.” because so many of the amenities I enjoyed most of my life just don’t exist at GL. Was there positive side? Yes, of course. Fitness, Activities and Wellness (Medical) departments were good, but I don't have space here for details. My advise to you? Keep looking. There are senior communities in the area for Independent residents with good management that are a better value." - Helen…

Villas of Holly Brook and Reflections Memory Care

From $3,500/mo

3503 14th Street West, Bradenton, FL, 34205
Assisted Living, Memory Care

"My father was in Memory Care. Average meals, public areas still clean as building is relatively new. Calls dropped frequently. Rooms get dirty and care is average because Administration likes to keep families out of facility and separated so management is in control - family oversight of rooms and loved ones can be impossible. They keep the place closed unusually longer than other facilities and use Covid as an excuse. (Ironically, many caretakers are not vaccinated). Good employees leave and high turnover rates exist because of toxic and dysfunctional management style. So, embracing the philosophy of a professional approach to management style does not exist here. However, when families enter the facility you would never know. Dedicated families eventually figure out how toxic the facility is but are afraid to say anything for fear of reprisals. Also, Caretakers don’t speak up for fear of reprisals. Calls have been made to corporate management no avail." - M…

"We’ve experienced repeated billing increases at FountainView without meaningful changes in care or proper documentation. Despite ongoing efforts to resolve things respectfully, the billing department has been inflexible—adding late fees and trying to withdraw funds beyond authorized limits, even during an active dispute. Most upsetting, staff involved our elderly loved one in financial matters despite clear family delegation, causing unnecessary confusion and stress. If you're considering FountainView, insist on all assessments in writing, review every invoice closely, and document every conversation. Or better yet—keep looking." - Vee…
