"Sunrise of Shelby is horribly managed, negligent in care, and certainly more concerned with money than their residents. I have praise for the front line workers that are overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated by management. The entire facility is understaffed for about a year, as told to me, multiple times, by staff AND managers. Yet, they still host tours for new residents while they are not able to keep up with the care that they are already paid to provide to current residents. They regularly serve hotdogs, pizza, and other prepackaged foods. They have bleached or lost many clothes. Their idea of activities are passing out a daily flyer or having residents watch Dean and Friends ALL DAY on TV. They claim to have personal relationships with residents and accommodate each ones needs. Yet, they cannot even keep track of Mom's hearing aids and phone. "My mother is very happy here & has made many new friends. My problem is with her balcony door. For the 1st 6 months she lived here the lock was stuck & she couldn’t access her balcony. Finally the door company came out & did a hack job to open the door, then it wouldn’t lock once it closed. Because of that the door blew open more than once & eventually broke the springs preventing the door from closing. It now has to be tied shut with a rope.
