Gateway Manor is an independent living facility featuring one or two-bedroom suites with full kitchens. Residents can enjoy weekly outings and activities. Housekeeping services are provided monthly. Gateway Family House has one-bedroom suites for residents who need help with daily needs such as bathing and dressing. Meals, housekeeping, laundry and transportation services are provided. Each suite has an in-room emergency response system and security is provided 24 hours a day. The suites are equipped with satellite television. Gateway Healthcare Center provides comprehensive services for residents who need skilled nursing care 24 hours a day. Services include medication control, cancer care, diabetes care, wound healing programs, pain management, hospice care and stroke care. The facility has a specialized pulmonary care unit that treats patients with respiratory illnesses such as COPD and pneumonia. Dementia care is only provided for low-risk patients. Residents at the Gateway facilities can enjoy gardening and bird watching in the patio area. The transportation service is free but residents who can drive can park their vehicles in covered parking. They made multiple mistakes with medication administration and billing, and consistently refused to address any mistakes and desperately tried to blame anybody else. We had to contact the ombudsman's office, who suggested we file a report with the health department regarding their dangerous mistakes. After my mom passed away, I made 13 attempts to contact the director and regional VP regarding a few concerns in my mom's last week, and they ignored every single contact attempt. Only after I escalated it to the owner of the company, did the VP finally call me - but instead of addressing my concerns, she claimed that they no longer had to communicate with me since my mom had died. "Don't go here! The building is old, and not in good shape. One of the elevators has been broken for 3 months already, and they're not replacing is. That leaves only one elevator for eight floors of residence. Plus they just installed a sign-in system that is ridiculously lengthy and unnecessary. What a waste of money when there are actually important things that need attention. The non-nursing staff is nice, but the medical side is not as good as I'd hoped. "We could not be more happy with Vitalia Strongsville. Before moving my in-laws to Vitalia they were at another assisted living in the area which did not compare to the care they have received at Vitalia Strongsville. The employees make it a point to make meaningful connections with the residents and you do not find that everywhere. My father in law was in memory care before he passed and he received great care. The nursing staff was great and always kept us in the loop. When his condition worsened they had their hospice team, Cypress right there to assist our family with end of life care. Vitalia plans fun, family friendly events through out the year for residents and their families. From trick or treating to Easter egg hunts and a Christmas tree lighting with a wonderful dinner and a market with local small businesses so residents can shop without leaving home. "This is not the place to send a loved one. Consistently understaffed, you can be guaranteed long waits for call button response. Communication is abysmal. Food is beyond horrid and nearly always cold with no attention to the needs or preference of the patient. Transport is inconsistent and attention to detail is sorely lacking. Rooms are old with broken equipment that you will be lucky to get fixed and aside from a few individuals the majority of staff were unconcerned and creatively hard to find. Officers said on Monday around 8:20 a.m., they were driving by Forest Hills Place assisted living facility when they noticed what they believed was a dead body outside on the ground.
