"My mother has been at Brookdale for 6 months. One weekend they had no milk or cottage cheese. Several nights there are no staff to take orders and serve food and the receptionist and nurses are pressed into duty. I Have raised the concerns through the proper channels but nothing changes, in fact, they seem to get worse. For some residents, dining is the only time they come out of their room. "If I could give them ten stars, I would. My sister and I have no complaints at all. From the second we arrived to the moment we left with our mother almost two weeks later it has been the best. She felt safe, secure, and loved it. We took her out on a little ride and she could not wait to get back to her room. She has had a pretty rough 85 days being in and out of hospitals and other rehab facilities that were lower than below the lowest low for facilities. I wish we had found this one the first time around. The whole atmosphere is very homey and calm. They have bright call lights above each room and they have signage that shows that at the nurse’s station which room needs assistance. Wild turkeys, deer, beautiful places for family to sit inside and outside. It has been impressive from day 1 and I could go on and on, but I do not have enough room. Our mother was taken care of just like we would have and we felt at ease during the day knowing she was there. They care, truly cared about her and helping her get back on her feet at the highest level they could help her get to. We’ve sadly taken her to other facilities in the area and were disappointed beyond belief. Not at New Albany Rehab. "This nursing home is one of many I visit regularly. Cuy Falls Gardens is depressing. I went for Christmas dinner and the Christmas music was turned down so rap could be played as aides danced. No holiday spirit. The residents wheel themselves down and sit in the lobby. I have never once seen the fireplace on. It would add so much warmth to emptiness The lobby tv is never on as they say the remote gets lost. a worker should be in charge of turning it on in the am and off at night. i watch wheelchaired people just sit in front of a barren screen. Even holiday music to greet and cheer residents and visitors. residents have complained about the huge amount of cigarette butts by the doors and windows. I agree.The place has no spirit and some residents have said it’s just a place to die. very sad it can’t make it a happy cheery place to not feel abandonment. a tv or music keeps the mind busy. "It's the cheapest of assisted living care in the area and you get what you pay for. Short staffed, poor medical care, the dietary staff tries hard with the little they are given to work with. Most of the aides are good and that is why we let my mom stay for 4 months, but there isn't enough staff to go around to all the cottages. Complaints are not addressed in a timely manner. Took 10 days to get a UTI diagnosed and treated. Lots of promises when moving in and none of it materialized. Moved my mom to a different facility and in 4 days they have begun treating her for undiagnosed issues she has suffered with for weeks. If you are new to the assisted living game, I urge you to please keep looking. I didn't at first because I found the cottage community aspect quaint and their promises sounded true and sincere.
