This score is determined using a comprehensive set of criteria, including sentiment analysis of online ratings and reviews, user-submitted feedback on CareScout.com, completeness of the community profile, input from employees and local advisors, a community's contracted status with CareScout, and the frequency of visits to the community's website and location. Communities can earn a maximum score of 10.

Scroll further down to read the actual reviews. When my dad was there a year and half ago we constantly had to make sure everything we were told would happen in memory care actually happened. The memory care area was ignored. I hope it has improved but whereever you go check with the Department of Health and Human Services for reports. Be vigilant and don't leave your loved one anywhere and think your job is done.

I called 3 times to get information and talk to someone. I left messages and spoke to someone who offered to take a message. No one ever called me back. This may not be a fair assessment on their care but this initial experience is so poor that I can’t consider them as an option anymore.

Thinking about placing a loved family member in Parmer Woods? That’s great. We had a 91 year-old family member there for over a year. The following are some things we wished we had known before making the decision to move him there. There are some unwritten ground rules in effect at Parmer Woods. Do not ask facility management to provide the services and environment that their PR proclaims. That will make the managers defensive and mad. Do not ask that medicines are administered on time as prescribed. That will make the managers defensive and mad. Do not ask that communication with the memory care unit after hours and on weekends be provided. That will make the managers defensive and mad. Do not ask that activities be provided for residents. That will make the managers defensive and mad. Do not ask managers to return your calls. They will not. Do not ask caregivers to actually give care to residents. In many cases that is just too much to ask. Do not ask that hearing aids

I would suggest you look elsewhere for Assisted Living or Memory Care. This is a facility that listens to your concerns but there is no action regarding your concerns. We were told there would be activities for memory care but we wound up doing a lot for our loved one ourselves. As of a month ago there still wasn't a executive director so staff wasn't accountable to anyone. This is a poorly run place and there are many other places in the area to look. The Cottages, Buckner Villa, Sundara and University Village just to name a few. The times we tried to contact the CEO about the facility and the lady who is the person who came up with the Connections Program, we were met with no response. You and your loved one is just a number here and a dollar sign. Please look elsewhere.

We are so thankful we found Parmer Woods as a home for my parents. We moved them into Memory Care in February 2022 and the staff was amazing at helping us getting everything in place. While there were changes in management going on, the staff went above and beyond in answering questions and providing support for not only my parents but also our family. Staff at all levels is in place now, the community is clean and well cared for, and my parents continue to receive excellent care. We would highly recommend!

Parmer Woods North Austin is owned by Pegasus senior living. Just know that it is not a Better Business Bureau accredited facility. What we were told was not what we got after a year of being there. Mostly television watching. nursing care not acceptable. Room cleanliness below par. Just not a good place for us!

Parmer Woods is not a healthy environment. No executive Director for eight months out of 12 so no leadership. Those that are there do not respond well to questions and do not follow up on communication. If you go once or twice a month it will APPEAR OK. But going every day, you see the health of the patients in question(patients oxygen not on?)- the communication to patients can be quite unfriendly at times (“ someone will help you on the next shift “)-and no differentiated activities as we were be told would happen-(just TV in MC -No activities Director for memory for seven months out of 12. ) it will look pretty with flags and pictures and signs on the wall as the sales Director walks you around but I guarantee that is not what makes this building! There are so many others of quality in the Austin area. Try University Village, Sage assisted living and memory care, poets walk, Sundara, pecan Ridge, Cottages at Chandler Creek and many more!

I am reviewing the Memory Care part of Parmer Woods. My dad was there for a year before moving him to a different facility. We were told that the memory care was active and the caregivers would use the Connections Program that they sold us on to keep our dad busy. It didn't take us long to find out that wasn't going to happen. Watching tv exercise with no caregiver interacting or encouraging the residents is what is done the most. There are always old movies which is ok but not what we were told the program was like. In the year my dad was there, there has only been a director 4 months. Its a facility that we were never sure where the accountability rested. We had meetings with staff and told them our concerns. No change We had problems with making sure my dad had his oxygen also so it wasn't just activities. Please try other places first and if you do go to Parmer Woods for a tour look at more than the pretty decorations. DROP in to tour the Memory Care, Appointment later.

My aunt has been at Parmer Woods North Austin for the past month and we feel very lucky to have found such a place for her. It is a beautiful community, but even more important is the quality of care she seems to be getting. As a nurse, it's easy to pick up on how the staff is feeling and the care team here seems fun, happy and very professional. If you want to put your family member somewhere where the employees seem happy, this is the place.
