"Unfortunately my mom’s stay at this assisted living was only a few months long. There were too many issues with the medical /wellness managment which impacted the quality of care my mom received. I was extremely disappointed and surprised that there would be such a difference in the quality of care depending on which Bristal you chose. The peace of mind that comes from knowing we could trust this facility to take proper care of my mom just wasn’t there. I felt required to be there on a daily basis to ensure they were doing what was supposed to be done. Very stressful ! After many many discussions with the Wellness Managment asking them to do what was needed to meet my moms medical and daily care needs, none of which were particularly difficult or unusual, I had to accept the fact that they were just indifferent and unwilling care for my mom properly. "This review is only for the reflections/memory care unit. My father was in the unit for a year and a half. The unit is under staffed and completely overwhelmed, and cannot handle many behaviors associated with dementia. He was sent to the ER almost 10 times in that year and a half because of agitation and yelling/aggression. The staff was not trained in how to handle this common symptom of dementia, even though we were told when we signed up that they could. They do not bring the residents outside of the unit for activities, again like they told us they would. So many of my father’s clothes and shoes went missing. Hundreds of dollars of items, gone. Many of the residents, including my father, needed a private aid because the care was that lacking. Please do not entrust your loved one with this staff. Look elsewhere." - Danielle… Read more

"On Friday December 19, 2025 I toured the Atria Tanglewood in lynbrook ny. This tour is for my Mom who is in rehab from a fall. I met with Virginia who sat me down first. We chatted and she explained the facility in DETAIL. This assistant living facility is TOP SHELF. Special thanks to Virginia who took me around the facility showed me dining, entertainment, library, rooms, gym and so much more. On our tour i was introduced to staff who were very nice and pleasant. I also asked them questions and they were very confident with their answers. The Atria Tanglewood is on my top five list. I have visited over ten assistant living at this time. Thanks again Virginia for all of your help, expertise, and kindness. "I recently ended 2 1/2 years at Dominican Village. This pertains only to the Independent area. Residents are skewed towards women in their 80s and late 70s. I've no family, so a major reason that I chose there was because Dominican sisters owned and ran it. Dominican Village had a reputation of leniency when residents could pay no more. Some stayed and others carefully relocated. Sadly, a year ago the sisters sold to a private organization with a harsh CEO. When I had to leave, relocation help found one choice. Take it on Tuesday or be out on Wednesday. It did not suit me, but I had no choice. My furniture and many items I owned were all abandoned in a rushed move out. Apart from that, the Village is a peaceful place. Many activities, led by bingo, and several senior exercise classes. For Catholics, there is mass and rosary and more. I was surprised by the high quality of the food when I arrived, but 6 months ago they switched to an inferior service. For this I deduct a star." - William… Read more
