"The facility itself is very clean and attractive and the majority of staff are cordial and efficient. My spouse is a resident in memory care and generally speaking receives care that I would rate very good. However , there is one glaring deficiency in the category of food selection, preparation, serving, quality, and supervision within the memory unit, (cannot speak for assisted living side). There is a total lack of concern and supervision within this area and I have discussed & pleaded with the persons in charge, on numerous occasions, with little to no improvement, for over 18 months. . I am writing this in hopes someone with authority and concern will recognize there is a problem and rectify it. "Before the Covid pandemic i visited my friend, Spurgeon, shortly after he moved into the Oaks. He already felt at home there, telling me about the facility, the food, the staff (especially Terry who made him feel so welcome.) I have kept in touch since and he continues to enjoy life at the Oaks. Recently i loved seeing a photo of Spurgeon, entertaining the residents with a song, accompanied by his friend Terry on the guitar. Hats off for all the staff at the Oaks! "This facility should be called THE HAVEN FROM HELL & should be immediately shut down in my opinion. It is unquestionably and undoubtedly the rock bottom of senior living facilities in the Columbus/Phenix City area by far. It was purchased over a year ago by the William James Group and although the food part has improved it is still a very incompetently run facility to say the least. My mother in law has been there for 2 years or so&although she likes it, she has been waiting for her heating and air unit to be fixed, repaired, or replaced for WELL OVER A YEAR NOW but although the facility can throw money at the cosmetic appearance THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIX HER UNIT using Air Force Htg&Air to work on it and we have been lied to lied to and lied to regarding this from the administrators, maintenance(4-5 different maintenance people since the acquisition), & from corporate as well as it appears nobody can speak the truth there.
