I looked at the Phoenix on Monday, and due to the attentive staff helping me get everything done that needed to be done, we were able to move in on Friday. One of the to be residents was in the hospital and they were kind enough to go to the hospital to complete the assessment required. "I am not sure where to start but I do not understand how Terra Bella has such good reviews. We had a TERRIBLE experience with my mother-in-law. We were told they could handle a high-level of care and a very sweet sales, lady confirmed that they could handle up to Level 6 care! After our tour, she made us leave feeling very confident that THIS was to be the place for us. We got all the paperwork in order and signed her up to move in 2 weeks later! Moving day, we showed up with no one to greet us for a long while.We were expecting some kind of warm welcome and a tour for my mother-in-law who had never been there. Nothing. We waited a while and then the Director and Nurse showed up. Instead of a warm welcome, they started listed all of their concerns. She's diabetic? We can't handle insulin in her current form. "DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THIS PLACE FOR YOUR LOVED ONE! The staff at Magnolia are incredible at touring and the sales pitch. But let me tell you, they will not even do the bare minimum that is part of the rental contract because they are always “under-staffed”. The weekly cleanings, laundry and sheet changes do not happen regularly if at all! If and when they do clean, it’s mediocre at best. The food is inedible. Several occasions they lost our family members medications and spent days trying to locate them while she was left without her diabetic monitors among other crucial medications. And you will be charged a ridiculous amount for a “care plan” and within weeks to months they will do another assessment without any communication and double the monthly care plan, this is how they make their money. Charging lower rent and ridiculous amounts for “care plans” that are bogus and unwarranted. "I have lived at Brickmont Woodstock for 2years. I am pretty independent so I am not closely associated with many of the complaints. I will say many of the problems have been corrected by the new management. Meals are constantly improving. Next the staff, I love most of them. They are very caring with different personalities. We are blessed to have a great staff. Of course the residents have different needs. My regular morning caregiver, Ann, always makes up my bed. Now for the main reason I love Brickmont, Evette O., our activities director. She is fabulous! Not only does she keep us busy but she becomes our friend. I have never seen her treat anyone except with respect. The activities she schedules are diverse and helpful. We laugh and say "don't you go anywhere because we would have to move with you!" We laugh but we are serious. She assured us she is not planning to go anywhere. Evette is so important to to the whole community. She cares about the caregivers as well." - Joy… Read more

"Since Alto took over in Oct 2024, this facility has gone downhill—especially in Memory Care. It's now severely understaffed, poorly managed, and unsafe. Temp workers unfamiliar with residents are common, care plans are ignored, and basic needs like toileting and meds are often missed. There were 7 months with no activities. Food is cold or inedible. Several residents have gotten out unsupervised; others were injured. Families who raise concerns face retaliation—some received 30-day notices. Alto does NOT support aging in place. Cameras are allowed but staff are told to cover them, limiting oversight. Communication from management is nearly nonexistent. "My poor mother has been here for a month. We are already finding her a new place. They have a system where you push the button on a device around your neck when you need help. Every single time I'm visiting, I watch her push the button, then wait, usually over 30 minutes, and no one comes. Most days I'll have to go looking for someone, and most days, like today, I find all staff members sitting in the dining room on their phones. Then when I walk up to them and say "Can someone come help my mom?" they look at me like I'm a pest, then consult each other and look at their call systems, and say things to each other like I'm not even there, pretending they didn't get the call. OR if you're lucky, someone will actually come to her room, shut off the device, then turn around and leave again, saying "I'll be back".
