Patriots Colony was founded by a group of retired military officers, led by Major General Archie Cannon, who saw the need for a community dedicated to those who shared the common bond of service to country. In 1994, the founders approached Riverside Health System, a leader in aging related services known for its medical expertise, with their plans. With Riverside's medical and financial backing, Patriots Colony opened in 1996.…

"Very disappointed with the care my parent received in the memory unit. Medications were often not given correctly or on time. Some staff were cruel and used harsh language towards the residents and their families. Once my mother was left in a bed yelling for help for two hours with little care, she was often left in soiled clothes for hours rarely being changed. Often having two or three depends on. My relative had Chronic UTIs, often monthly. Management did not listen or seem to care. I was often being dismissed and management failed to investigate the complaints properly. Very expensive for the care you receive. I was bullied by staff as witnessed by many friends that came to visit my relative. Mom was moved to a facility that charges 3,500 less than Edgeworth with much better care. There have been many complaints with the dept of social services about Edgeworth. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. Please do your homework before moving them to this facility." - Katherine…

"Wonderful place for a senior with dementia to live. Management truly cares. It's a privately owned memory care facility. The prices are very affordable, but what's best is the staff . They are caring and compassionate going out of their way to assist your love one. The empathy and true love for seniors is what I love about this facility most. My mother was placed there after another facility failed to give her the respect and basic care she needed. The rooms are cozy and feel like home. The food is very good, with a southern style like moms home cooking. The dining hall is lovely. Sandy the rec leader always comes up with fantastic activities for the residents, as well as outings to various places in Williamsburg. If I have a concern I am able to voice it to Tabitha the ED or Andrea finance manager, as they are always willing to listen and assist. Mom is approaching 99 and I am grateful that she has a wonderful home here. Thank you so much." - Katherine…
