"The facility sits on Holman Road, which is very busy. There is virtually no outside space for residents to congregate other than a roof terrace. Inside there is a spacious common space but it is in a basement. The costs per month quoted here are the base. Once the resident is anchored at Aegis, the corporation does its best to increase monthly fees. The contract gives Aegis the power to increase the monthly fees by its decision that the resident needs more services. My relative who lives there has had her monthly fee increase by 70% over the last 3 years. It comes very close if not over the line of financially taking advantage of vulnerable adults. When we first inquired here, they seemed so nice and accommodating, that is UNTIL they found out we were on a budget and asked about Medicaid programs. Where at first they were willing to negotiate on rent, second-person fees, community fee, etc., the minute they found out we were not wealthy, they changed completely. The answer to every question we asked was "no," "no," "no," and they weren't so nice about it. They wanted to charge my parents nearly $7000/month in rent for a barely 600 square-foot one-bedroom apartment, a $4500 (non-refundable) community fee, and nearly $6000/month in care costs for just ONE of my parents.If you have done any research on assisted living, you will know that this exploitative and outrageous! "Fantastic medical and care staff on floors in living area. Very thoughtful, kind and personal care. 5 heart rating The dining facility is terrible. Really bad service. 1 heart or zero rating. Reason: Visiting families have to use a separate room. The staff forgets over 50% of the time that they need to take orders and only realize when it's near closing time that someone is in the room and all of the popular food items are gone. The food itself is fine, but the service is bad except for just a few outstandingly good, dedicated employees. The General Manager should be replaced.
