"In a day and age when most Senior Living communities are owned by REITs and managed to tight budgets, Touchmark continues to be owner-operated after 40+ years in the industry. The community setting is peacefully placed on the top of the West Hills, looking west towards the coastal mountains. The team of staff is incredible and seems to share the same values as the residents they are serving. My favorite part of this community is the nature trails they have carved through the hills. "Our family member is living at the Gardens, the Memory Care unit of the Watermark at the Pearl. Our experience has been very mixed. Pros: New building, great location, beautiful restaurant and valet parking. Cons: Opened in 2024 and this unit has already been through three memory care directors, showing a real fracture in leadership. Communication between leadership, staff and the families is poor at every level. There is a lack of transparency regarding the care of your loved one and whether the service plans are being followed by staff. Many of the direct care staff go above and beyond to care for residents but are motivated intrinsically, not lead by leadership. Food is mediocre, little engagement activity offered, housekeeping and laundry are disorganized. High staff turnover and not staffed for resident needs. Bored residents cause problematic behaviors. "I felt many caregivers were not properly trained to transfer residents. There is a rule that only one person transfer is acceptable. Although I never needed more than one person I felt extreme pressure to move from the facility. I had caregivers try to transfer me by pulling on one leg, one arm etc., improper use of gate belt. "First day I walked in was January 18, 2023. After that day I knew I would stay. The staff are amazing, Leah has gone above and made me feel valued here. Mario and Dave the fantastic duo are so helpful. Not only do the take great care of Creekside inside and out. They come ready to do a job right with smiles on their faces. Christian is Creekside showing you the moment you walk through the front door how here you don't have to look any further. One of the best things they do is transportation with Michael and Julie. So much time goes into all the planning of field trips and the care they take on taking us where we need to go. Last is the GREAT food and love the kitchen put in shows. "I moved to the Forum at Town Center sight unseen from out of state. Moving from my own home and into independent living has been an adjustment. This is an older facility and therefore has some maintenance issues, but new management has poured resources into repairs and up keep and the gardens and grounds here are without peer. Spring through Fall here our souls are nourished by the natural beauty . Food quality and quantity are above average, often excellent! Staff are all pleasant and courteous and go the extra mile to keep residents engaged and mentally sharp. We have both independent and assisted living so most needs can be accommodated. "My Mother has been living in one of the independent-living apartments for seven years and is very happy here. They keep the grounds landscaping looking nice year around. Any time she needs anything, even a light bulb in the ceiling changed, they will take care of it. The difficulty is however, no one answers the phone anymore. Now whe we call its a phone tree and leaving a message. After that it can take a few days to get a response. Fortunately we haven't had anything urgent come up.
