"Please do not turn to Brookdale Foundation House for help with your loved ones. They are in the business of making money. Period. When we first inquired here, they seemed so nice and accommodating, that is UNTIL they found out we were on a budget and asked about Medicaid programs. Where at first they were willing to negotiate on rent, second-person fees, community fee, etc., the minute they found out we were not wealthy, they changed completely. The answer to every question we asked was "no," "no," "no," and they weren't so nice about it. They wanted to charge my parents nearly $7000/month in rent for a barely 600 square-foot one-bedroom apartment, a $4500 (non-refundable) community fee, and nearly $6000/month in care costs for just ONE of my parents.If you have done any research on assisted living, you will know that this exploitative and outrageous! "Wow, I'm surprised to see that the recent change of hands isn't mentioned, and that this place is rated best of 2026, when 2026 just started! My parents moved there and love the cottages and simplicity of having the internet and cable TV (and maybe utilities?) all rolled into one package. They were also getting weekly housekeeping. Unfortunately the new management company (Avenue 5 I think) took over, so without notice they don't get any of those things, but are expected to keep paying the premium rent. "Merrill Gardens is lovely unless one actually needs the assisted living that they advertise. We had hoped that our parent would be able to end their days there, but Merrill Gardens is unwilling to provide the care they advertise and that is listed on the contract we signed. Furthermore, their head nurse is really unfit for dealing with the slightest problem and should really find employment where she doesn't have to deal with people. Many of the staff are lovely, and the facility is beautiful. Just don't plan on ever transitioning from independent living to assistant living. They cannot provide it as advertised." - S.… Read more

"Our Solstice has made considerable changes recently. We now have an efficient, caring staff. They each do their own jobs well, but they are always prepared to fill in somewhere else that they are needed, even to serving meals! There is constant action here for those who crave it, but no one is pressured to take part. We have an outstanding Physical Therapy staff. "2025: NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL! After recent several years experience with my elderly mother there I cannot recommend Brookdale Allenmore at all. Poor food quality insufficient staff and high turnover along with slow maintenance in elderly people’s apartments don’t make this place very desirable. Facilities are decent, nice backyard and grounds and a few caring staff are the positives. Be advised The Brookdale Corp had been sued by the CA Atty General for “failure to provide advertised services” and after several years thats my impression of the Allenmore facility…seemingly corporate profits 1st before adequate funding and services to the elderly when they are paying Min $1000 a week for independent living…🤔" - Bill… Read more

"Cogir Senior Living Kent Wa is changing. There is a new executive director in training she does not have the qualifications to be executive director and is causing a lot of stress and unhappiness for myself and other residents. I have been told that they would help me find another place.Way to much hassle and work to move ,so I will stay here not very happy but hoping that things will change. There is a active investigation by Washington State Omsbudmen concerning my and other concerns.
