I love that the memory care unit has their personal resident coordinator. She always makes sure the families concerns are addressed in a timely fashion . She is very hands on with her staff. "Corso is a beautiful facility but they operate like a real estate group with no timely communication out to residents or caregivers and families about urgent or emergency situations. The wellness team is very competent and capable but grossly understaffed and underequipped to deliver medications on time, keep updated records of medical history and preferences, and deliver care plans within a reasonable timeframe. The elevators in the facility breakdown regularly — many occasions my loved one was unable to get to bed after taking their evening medications including sleep meds because they couldn’t climb the stairs (walker/wheelchair). Sadly, it’s as though no one coordinates with anyone which is the last thing you want when placing a loved one who needs additional support under another’s care. Brought all concerns up with the directors and no resolution. Again, beautiful as a senior living community but would NOT recommend for ALF. "It was very refreshing to see that all the staff personally introduce themselves when we visit the community. The seemed to genuine care for the well being of their residents. We chose a community a bit closer to our home for our mother but very impressed with Arbor Terrace. The location is actually very close to a lot of food and shopping. "Toured recently with my mother and we both were very impressed. We were greeted by a friendly Valet staff member and escorted into the spacious lobby with beautiful decor and a large waterfall. The sales team member was informative and inspiring, as we toured several apartment styles and a multitude of floors with various amenities! Mom loved the rooftop pool and gym! I loved the 18th floor sky lounge. Several groups of residents were assembled there interacting with each other in card games, music, and a book club. Very impressive. The icing on the cake for mom was the lovely garden area and dog park. Pets are welcomed and she was thrilled to know she can bring her poodle. I can share that the pricing for the 1 bedroom apartment we saw was comparable to her home but with so much more included! "My mom stayed here for a year and a half and it was nothing but problems. Cold food, overnight pendant response times can be 2-3 hours, not getting everyone out of their rooms during a fire drill, no sanitizer in the entire facility for four days, elevator(s) broken for four months straight, the bus and car didn't work for weeks at a time, lost laundry, etc. The dining room is a complete disaster. They run out of entrees within 5 minutes of the dining room opening, and the food is way too salty. The residents have spoken up about this numerous times. However, nothing changes. They served hamburgers and didn't have ketchup on more than one occassion. Hamburgers served on bread, not buns. And, there's a Kroger/Publix within walking distance. A grilled chease sandwich served without the cheese. They run out of coffee cups, lids, creamer, iced tea, bread, desserts, you name it. And, it's constant. "I am actually disappointed in this facility. Formerly the Oaks in West Cobb, I believe there is a new owner and director . Waited to write this review in hopes that certain concerns would be resolved . There is a lack of staff to take residents to the dining room, The machine for guests' name tags is not in service. "My mother is currently residing in the memory care facility. The facility was sold a few months ago and I am extremely concerned about the level of care. The top 4 reasons that I placed her there - 1 . there were real memory care activities to allow residence to thrive as the disease progresses 2. Longevity of staff, most had been there more than 5 years or more, had a real passion for caring for the senior population and communicated with families about loved ones frequently. 3. Great food that felt like dining in a nice restaurant with meal choices 4. Cleanliness and decore. Not sterile feels like home and visitation warm and welcoming. Latest events is that new company has let go all of the very capable long-term staff because they don’t want to pay them. Food and cleanliness has declined and no activities such as jazz on Fridays to engage residents. I am extremely concerned and will start the journey to find the best care for my mother. "The Gardens have worked out very well for my Mom! She was previously in a very small facility which required her to interact with the other ladies almost all day long. It was difficult for my Mom since she has lived by herself for most of the last 5 years. The director, Sherry, and the manager, Yvie, have been most helpful in getting her settled in. They even had her room furnished and decorated when we brought my Mom, which was a nice touch. Mom has mentioned a few times how the other ladies, meaning caregiving staff, have been very sweet to her and she likes them. The only compliant we have heard form Mom is she wished the food was a little better, but Mom has become a pretty picky eater in her later years! We are very pleased with the way Mom transitioned into the Gardens. Please be aware that some of the other reviews you are reading are prior to a new management taking over the Gardens in early 2018. They have already dressed up the grounds and have started remodeling the inside of the building. It is certainly worth your visiting and seeing for yourself and meet the staff." - David B.… Read more
