"If I could give this place a zero I would. I showed up for a scheduled tour and there was no a single staff member to be found. Anyone who walks in has access to any part of the facility - upstairs, downstairs, resident rooms. There was absolutely no one. After 10 minutes I called several numbers and either the mailbox was full or I was transferred to the main corporate number. What if there was an emergency? After 15 minutes of standing around I left. And I don't think it's location specific because my father in law is at a Brookdale facility in FL and we wanted to transfer him to one here to be closer to family and that one isn't great either. So no we won't be moving him to another one here. I'd rather pay the money for a new place than do an internal transfer. "Great curb appeal and the common areas are kept clean. Day #1 Mom called crying saying she had been pushing her call button for an hour and a half and no one came to help her out of bed. Have had several problems with doctors' orders being received. Bus transportation has to be arranged at your own expense if their bus has mechanical problems. MedTechs often work double shifts and quite often they are short staffed. I had two ombudsmen that were able to help me get the on-site nurse from continually contacting their medical provider and running up expenses for visits and supplies when we kept Mom's own medical providers. Be sure to arrange to eat a meal during your visit so you can assess the quality of the food. I would also suggest asking what the scheduled activities are. "Pricing and level of care for memory is exceeding high. Double for their Alledgely starting price. Heavy staff turner over. And there is a lack of training for special health needs. Activities are geared to women not men when offered. When they do provide activities it's coloring or putting simple puzzles. TV Is main stay of directing attention- normally movies or reruns of old shows. The entertainment from outside the facility are from people who volunteer like a young man who comes second Tuesday for one hour to play a piano and sing either the residents. Snacks between lunch and dinner are not offered consistently with weekend staff seemingly not aware that they to be given. If your loved has dementia and has behavioral aggression they respond by sending them to the ERs. They are not trained to handle these episodes.
