"My sister and I went to several Memory facilities in advance of Dad impending move. We chose this community because it was in his home town, 7 miles from me, had a memory unit of 3 floors and reminiscence unit on the fourth floor. His first two years he became part of the community by interacting with the wonderful staff. When his Alzheimers progressed he moved to the remembrance floor where he felt he was part of the staff again. He loved to tease the staff, sing and get into mischief. Throughout his stay we worked with their Wellness staff and his doctors to stay on top of the Alzheimers progression. At the end of his life he went out in dignity with the genuine love of all his second family." - Susanne…

"Belmont Village of San Jose is in a great location. Santana Row is (literally) next door. It's a short (a couple of blocks) walk to the Valley Fair mall. And the Winchester Mystery House is across the street. The food is really good, too. But that's not why I’m there. It’s the people. The “pals” go out of their way volunteering to help you do whatever you’re trying to do. They have a great nursing staff. The dining room staff too — very accommodating. I’ve only needed maintenance a couple of times, but each time they’ve jumped on the problem and fixed it on the first try. And last — but not least — management is very accessible. This wasn’t true at the last place I stayed, and it’s no small thing." - Paul…

"My mom lived at Oakmont San Jose for five years. After being at three other memory care facilities (Belmont Village Sunnyvale and Atria Foster City), OSJ was the perfect solution, and where she lived out her final days. My mom was accustomed to high-end hotels and a glamorous life, with excellent customer service and care. We found OSJ to be the perfect fit for high-cognitive seniors. It was so wonderful to visit her as she was engaged in activities or sitting on the beautiful patio having lunch. The current head nurse (Paula) and memory care director (Sherry) are the best in the biz and were the only team to regularly keep in touch with me as her only child and POA. While the leadership changed many times over the course of her residency, the care staff was consistent, and my mom felt safe in her lovely private room. OSJ also welcomed and collaborated well with my mom's physical therapists, external caregivers, end-of-life doulas, and hospice." - Amy…

"On the outside, this facility presents well. On the inside, my loved one was not well cared for. Examples: a "med tech" came to take a wellness check, however the blood pressure cuff didn't work, he brought back a second one which also didn't work, and left to get a third one! Another example; at 3 am my partner had pain; he pressed the button and asked for pain meds; the attendant came in 10 minutes and my partner asked for pain med only to be followed by a "med tech" arriving 10 minutes later to ask (again) about the problem; my partner asked AGAIN for pain med, TWO HOURS later, the med tech brought the pain med! This is inexcusable and incompetence. The facility has some nice staff, but others are untrained and clueless. The restaurant has limited food; and if one is there at "off-hours," one is not treated well, even though the rules say food is available at any time. Staffing is mixed with some nice and others being regimented and letting one know there are "rules."." - Helen…
